Here’s a post about these cool documentaries I picked up the other day. It’s a set of four DVDs by a french guy called Loïc Pringent, who followed the work going on in four different fashion houses (Sonia Rykiel, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Proenza Schouler, Fendi) the day before their fashion shows. I found them really interesting, and surprisingly each documentary was very different from the other. The Sonia Rykiel one emphazised on the relation between Sonia and her daughter and how the house is run now that Sonia is less involved (this documentary surprsised me the most, I half expected Sonia to drop dead any minute, she looks so frail). Jean-Paul Gaultier’s one really focused on all the skilled workmanship (we even get to see Jean-Pierre Tritz, the hatter). Then we have Proenza Schouler, a young fashion house on the up, and Fendi (with Karl Lagerfeld), which is fun, I’d never really seen much about italian fashion houses before.  Loïc Pringent always adds a little touch of humour to his work which is lightens stuff up, and the designers really have let him film eveything which in unbelievable. He also did a Marc Jacobs and a Chanel documentary a while back, I’ve seen the Marc Jacobs one which I thought was good (it’s back when he still wore glasses and before the big rehab phase)- we get to seem him at work on his own brand aswell as at Louis Vuitton. If you’re into fashion and want to see how everything comes together in a big stressful rush, do watch them!

Voici un petit post sur des documentaires super bien que j’ai acheté l’autre jour. C’est une série de quatre DVD par un français qui s’appelle Loïs Pringent (diffusés sur Arte), qui a suivi le travail dans quatre maisons de couture (Sonia Rykiel, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Proenza Schouler et Fendi) le jour avant leur grands défilés. J’ai trouvé ces documentaires intéressants, et étonnement chacun est vraiment différent de l’autre. Le docu sur Sonia Rykiel se focalise sur la relation entre elle et sa fille et comment la maison est gérée avec  le retrait partiel de Sonia (c’est ce documentaire qui m’a le plus marqué, je m’attendais à tout moment que Sonai tombe raide morte par terre, tellement elle a l’air frêle). Dans celui sur Jean-Paul Gaultier on voit vraiment le gros travail des divers artisans (on voit même Jean-Pierre Tritz, créateur de chapeaux). Puis, on a Proenza Schouler, une jeune maison qui monte, et Fendi (avec Karl Lagerfeld) qui est très divertissant, je n’ai jamais trop vu quoique ce soit sur les maisons de couture italiennes. Loïc Pringent  ajoute toujours une petite touche d’humour ce qui allège les choses, et il a vraiment été autorisé à tout filmé par les divers créateurs ce qui est incroyble. Il avait  déjà fait un documentaire sur Marc Jacobs et Chanel il y a un peu de temps déjà, j’ai vu celui sur Marc Jacobs qui était bien (c’était lorsqu’il portait toujours des lunettes et avant la phase célèbre des désintox) - on le voit travailler pour sa propre marque ainis que  pour Louis Vuitton. Si vous aimez la mode et vous avez envie de voir comment tout se finalise dans un grand mouvement de stress, regardez les!
