I got the new  issue of ‘The Hat Magazine’ today, the first of 2010! I haven’t had time to go through it all yet, but I would like to point out that it has a really good chunk dedicated to Melbourne (a whole 32 pages!) and it’s hat makers. There’s  the main photo shoot (like in each issue) followed by small articles on each milliner/hatter! The first thing that pops into my head, is that there must be a lot of competition between them all, I never would have thought that there were so many milliners down there! Apparently, Melbourne has the most milliners per square mile in the world! There’s also pictures taken at the Melbourne Cup Festival which show a large variety of styles. It really is nice to find out what hat designers are up to an the other side of the world, and to see that it is a rather booming business is even better!

J’ai reçu le tout nouveau  ‘The Hat Magazine’ aujourd’hui, le premier de 2010! Je n’ai pas encore eu le temps de tout regarder, mais je tenais à mentionner qu’il y a uen grande partie dédiée à la ville de Melbourne et ses créateurs de chapeaux (32 pages en tout!). Il y a les photos de ‘mode’ (comme dans chaque numéro) suivi de petits articles sur chaque modiste/chapelier! La première chose qui me vient à l’esprit c’est qu’il doit avoir beacoup de concurrence entre-eux tous, je n’aurai jamais cru qu’il y avait autant de créateurs là-bas. Apparement, Melbourne détient le plus de modistes/chapeliers au kilomètre carré au monde! Il y a aussi des photos de la Melbourne Cup Festival, qui montrent une vraie variété de styles différents. C’est sympa de voir ce qui se fait à l’autre bout du monde, mais aussi de constater que le marché du chapeau y est plutôt florissant c’est encore mieux!
