This weekend I was up in Paris and I went and visited the Yves Saint Laurent retrospective at the Petit Palais. It started off badly- even though my friend and I had already bought our tickets on the net we had to queue for almost an hour before being let into the building- but it turned out just so amazingly great!! We weren’t alllowed to take any photos of the exhibition so you’ll just have to go and see all the beautiful clothes with your own eyes! There’s over 300 outfits on display (with all the iconic YSL designs – the woman’s tuxedo, the Mondrian dress, the safari jacket…)and it’s all layed out really well (with 15 different rooms). Most of the mannequins aren’t behind glass or anything so you can get up quite close and have a good look (the craftmanship is just mind-blowing), we were rather tempted with my mate  to undo stuff and have a look how it was made! There are quite a lot of hats to see too, which was a nice bonus (I love YSL’s turbans from the scandalous 1971 summer collection). I’m not a big YSL fan, but I can and do appreciate his work and influence he had on fashion, he certainly was good at what he did! The exhibition is on until the end of August and is a must-see, the website is really good too if you want to found out a bit more. Ce weekend, j’étais à Paris et je suis allée voir la rétrospective dédiée à Yves Saint Laurent au Petit Palais. Ca a mal commencé – même si mon amie et moi avions acheté nos billets sur internet en avance, on a dû faire la queue pendant presque une heure avant de pouvoir rentrer dans le batîment -  mais a super bien terminé!! On n’avait pas le droit de prendre des photos, donc il va falloir que vous y allez tout voir de vos propres yeux! Il y a plus de 300 tenues exposées (dont les plus iconiques : le smoking, la saharienne, la robe Mondrian…) et tout est bien disposé avec 15 salles à parcourir.  La plupart des mannequins ne sont pas derrière des vitres, donc on peut vraiment s’en approcher tout près (la fabrication est juste époustouflante) : on était assez tentée avec ma copine d’enlever les vêtements pour voir comment c’était fait! Il y a aussi pas mal de chapeaux à voir, un bon petit bonus pour moi (j’adore les turbans de la collection scandaleuse de l’été 1971). Je ne suis pas une grande fan d’YSL,  mais je peux apprécier son travail et l’influance qu’il a pu avoir sur la mode :  il était vraiment bon à ce qu’il faisait! L’expo se termine fin Août et c’est à voir sans-faute! Le site web est pas mal si vous voulez plus d’info et si vous en voulez d’avantage (!!!) j’ai trouvé cette vidéo sur Youtube!
